Carl W. Kimmel, 95, Rockford, died September 17, 2010, at 4:07 a.m. at Gardens at Celina, Celina, Ohio. He was born June 1, 1915 to Ferdellus “Joe” and Mina (Lampy) Kimmel. On December 31, 1942, he married Eleanor Freck, who preceded him in death on August 3, 1986.
Surviving are his children: Catherine (Arthur) Mirtes, Huron, Ohio, and Gary (Sharon) Kimmel, Celina; sister: Mary Krugh, Mendon; four grandchildren: Adam (Cheri) Kimmel, Van Wert, Jennifer (J.D.) Smith, Van Wert, William (Tricia) Mirtes, Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Benjamin (Alicia Grote) Mirtes, Los Angeles, California; two step-grandchildren: Mitch Hensly, Montezuma, Ohio, and Shawn (Krista) Hensly, Sidney, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers: Kenneth and Edwin Kimmel; sister: Evelyn MacKay; and granddaughter: Amy Mirtes.
He was a 1933 graduate of Rockford High School and was a dairy farmer all of his life. He was a member of the former Rockford Presbyterian Church and served as deacon and elder there. He was also a member of Rockford Masonic Lodge since 1941.
Funeral Services will be on Monday September 20, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, with Rev. Bob Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Viewing is Monday September 20 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford.

Carl was a very good friend to me and I enjoyed talking with him and going out to supper together.
