My deepest sympathies to Betty’s family. Betty was very special. I’ll miss seeing her at church and I’ll also miss the cards and letters she would send at holidays. Betty was loved by all who knew her.
Our thoughts are with you at your loss. She is HEAVEN bound.
Betty was one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew. When I would come to visit my grandmother, Paula Allmandinger, she was always there with her faithful companion, Velma, making sure my visit was wonderful, she always welcomed me with open arms..as my grandmother went into dimentia, Betty and I became penpals, she always kept me up to speed about my grandmother..I know for sure, there is another beautiful angel in heaven along side my grandma…Love to the family, Betty will be greatly missed..LOve, Kim
Dear Schumm Family members,
It is with sadness that we heard about the passing of Betty Schumm. According to our recollections, Betty Schumm was the cousin of my Mother, Alma Barbara Buechner Moellering. We remember Betty Schumm as a kind and God-fearing woman who delighted in her Lord and Savior. She was always faithful, always friendly, and always helpful.
It appears that she may be the end of the fifth generation of our part of the Schumm Family.
With warm memories,
Harold Moellering
Ted and I have been married for 40 years, and I can still remember so vividly attending a Schumm reunion even before we were married, and then many reunions through the years. I will never forget Betty and her gift of loving people and her hospitality. She graciously had us spend the night and treated us like royalty. In her later years, when she was no longer in the same house, she would still look for us to come to the reunion and invite us back to her home. She always took time to write us the sweetest, most informative letters always being positive and concerned about our lives. She has touched our hearts and will never be forgotten. We know she is at peace with her Lord and the heavens rejoiced upon her arrival.
Betty was truely a wonderful woman. There was always a smile on her face and she was always such a pleasure to talk to. We at Zion will miss her. She was a wonderful example of what we all should strive for! Loving her Lord, her life, her family & friends. She will be missed by so many!! What a great LADY!!!!
Betty was my husband’s relative, butI always considered her my cousin too. She always made me feel welcome whenever we attended anything at Schumm Church.
Mu nephew and I spent time with her and some of the other relatives a year or so ago. He was workimg on a new geneology book. She even made lunch for us. I planned to visit her after her move, but never got there.
She has moved on now, to live with God. She will be missed.
Betty was one of my favorite people. I just visited with her on the 8th of September. She was so kind and thoughtful to my mother. When my mother was staying with us, she looked forward to getting a letter or card from Betty. Betty was such a positive and happy person and was always caring about others. She was just one of those persons that you wanted to be like “when you grew up.” When the saints go marching in, she will surely be among them.
Many fond memories in childhood
It has been several years since we have seen Betty. Our first meeting was when we accompanied my wife’s cousin, Marcile ‘Schumm’ Buechner to Ohio. My wife, JoAnn Tindall, our new daughter, Lindsay and myself had a wonderful visit. Betty introduced me to pearl tapioca which I love to this day (can’t find it on the west coast so we have to special order it). While there, we were fortunate to visit Schumm and the Zion Lutheran Church. Although our one and only visit was back in 1986, it seems just like yesterday. Since that time we have sent an annual xmas letter to Betty updating her on our lives out here in California. We have fond memories of Betty and enjoyed getting her newsy letters. Our thoughts and prayers are with her sister, sister in law and the many nieces and nephews.
